In this unique radio-play style presentation - with 9 actors and a live band - you’ll get the first glimpse at author Anna Knight’s new play featuring songs by Cole Porter. They all have someone, or something, under their skin. Who will stop at nothing to get what they want and who will be brought back from the brink? $30.  Running time includes 15-minute intermission.

First time playwright from Norfolk, Anna Knight, is set to unveil her new musical, inspired by and featuring the songs of the legendary Cole Porter.

Under My Skin is set in 1930s New York and tells the story of a group of disparate – and sometimes desperate – characters, brought together through their connections to the mob-run Carousel Club.  Each has someone, or something, “under their skin” and are led to a course of action far outside of their expectations and aspirations in an attempt to achieve their dreams.

Directed by Jason Gornto, Under My Skin includes beloved Porter classics such as I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Night and Day, Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye and Love For Sale.  The story is presented in an old-time radio-play format, with a live band and analog sound effects.

ABOUT ANNA

Originally from London, Anna Knight has been Norfolk-based for several years.  She sits on the Board of Norwich Housing Society and is a semi-retired HR consultant in the social housing sector.  Anna has always wanted to expand on her creative output and after spending many years singing in choirs and writing her own songs, she is now very proud at the age of 62 to be seeing her first musical play going into production. “The idea for the play had been circling round my head for some time, and it was in 2020 during the first Covid lockdown that I decided to finally start putting pen to paper.  I’ve already got an idea for my second work beginning to germinate!” she said.
