A 2006 graduate of Peru High School and the 2006 Cole Porter Scholarship recipient, Zak recently graduated from Butler University where he studied music education. He was named one of the top 10 men at Butler University. Zak has played the piano since 1995. He began lessons with Mrs. Nancy Spahr. Zak studied piano with Mrs. Jenny Mobley and trombone with Mr. Jared Rodin at Butler University where he was a member of the Butler University Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Basketball Band. Zak is currently teaching music for Franklin Township Community Schools, and leads the Peru Community Orchestra. Zak has enjoyed playing at the Cole Porter Festival for several years and is looking forward to performing again this year.
Charles Troy’s multimedia presentations tell the backgrounds of the greatest musicals and Broadway songwriters of the 20th century, in visually seamless programs with original graphics, scanned photos, edited audio tracks with the lyrics displayed onscreen, and historic video clips, coordinated with thoroughly researched, scripted narratives that weave the pertinent events into cohesive, dramatic stories.
Troy is a graphic designer and former theatre lyricist based in Chicago. His multimedia presentations merge his skills and his passion for the subject. Over the last ten years, he has developed more than 50 presentations.
He has built up a large and enthusiastic following in Chicago and in Florida. This will be his eighth consecutive year presenting at the Cole Porter Festival. For more information please visit Charles Troy’s website.
Avery Jackson is a graduate of Peru High school, where she was Salutatorian and Student Body President, and has just finished her Freshman year at Purdue University where she is majoring in Industrial Design with a Certificate in Acting. She enjoys singing, painting, dancing, and acting. Avery is no stranger to Cole Porter music having been in the Peru High School Swing Choir for four years, and having performed in Taming of the Shrew last summer with the original Kiss Me Kate score. She continues to be in Shakespeare shows and and will be performing in The Tempest at the end of this summer. Other roles she has played include: A witch in Macbeth, Sandy in Grease, Alice in Alice in Wonderland, and The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. Avery is excited to be a part of the Cole Porter festival and is looking forward to performing.
